EPTIP: English Proficiency Test for IT Professionals
English Proficiency Test for IT Professionals (EPTIP), officially launched by Electronic Education Center of the Ministry of Information in June 2005, is an important part of National IT Proficiency Test and National Information Technology Training Project. It is also an important part of continuing education for people who take National Computer Software qualification examinations. EPTIP, the first kind of IT industry English proficiency test developed by the authority of the State IT educational institutions, provides IT professionals and quasi IT professionals with IT Workplace English courses and IT Workplace English certification.
In view of the acute shortage of technical talent proficient in IT professional English, with the organization of the Electronic Education Center of the Ministry of Information, many foreign language teaching and testing experts, foreign IT experts, senior international IT enterprise engineers and human resources managers,have come together to form the Oriental Ebizal Expert Group.They carefully designed this national IT vocational English teaching and certification system, which shows their powerful ability of integration. Instruction for Examination
English Proficiency Test for IT Professionals (EPTIP), officially lunched by electronic education center of the Ministry of Information, is an important part of National IT Proficiency Test and National Information Technology Training Project. This examination is suitable for IT professionals and quasi IT professionals. EPTIP is divided into three levels and contains six types, including IT general test, software engineers, hardware engineers, network engineers, communication engineers and IT management. At present, IT general test for level 1 and software engineers level 2 are available in China.
According to the actual need in business and technical work of international IT companies, export-oriented IT companies, international software outsourcing enterprise, English Proficiency Test for IT Professionals (EPTIP) is aimed at to test candidates’ listening, speaking, reading, writing ability in the business, technical work and technology management. Examinations for each level consist of five parts, including listening, oral English, vocabulary and structure, reading comprehension and writing.
After finishing certain courses and passing the examinations required by EPTIP, candidates will get the relevant certificate. The exam perfect score is 100 points with the total score more than 60 points for qualified, including oral and writing parts not less than 6 points. All candidates can get ‘IT vocational English skills analysis report’for individual skill.
Examination Format EPTIP consists of written examinations and on-screen tests to test candidates’ability in listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary and structure. There are three question types, including multiple choice, filling in the blank and short answers. Listening and speaking sections are completed by using a computer test system.
Examination Arrangement EPTIP examinations are organized in a nationwide at the unified time with four times a year. Electronic education center of the Ministry of Information, with local examination centers and authorized institutions’ assistance, is mainly responsible for the whole organization and management of this examination. All the registration work is completed by your local examination centers and authorized institutions.
Examinations Explanation Structure of the test paper: It is divided into five sections, including vocabulary and structure, reading comprehension, writing, listening and speaking. Examinations Method: It consists of written examinations and on-screen tests. The following three sections-vocabulary and structure, reading comprehension, writing are written examinations. Listening and speaking sections are completed by using a computer test system.
