Business Statistics -- intermediate level

    Business Statistics intermediate level is the second level of LCCI Business Statistics course. This course will introduce statistics’ practicality and operational programs in business area, meanwhile it makes you have chance to increase the technique of presenting report.

    Although in business statistics intermediate level introduced detailed statistics knowledge, we must be aware of computer help manager, statist and economist provide more statistic model, improve their technique.

In this course, we will learn 7 main topics:
     1、graphic presents method and survey method;
     2、location measurement and deviation;
     3、deviation coefficient;
     4、correlation and regression;
     5、index;
     6、time series;
     7、probability

In the first topic we have to develop an understanding of the different types of data-discrete or continuous, primary or secondary – and know which graphs, diagrams or charts: bar, pie, Z charts should be used to illustrate the results.
We also have to understand the methods of collection and the advantages and disadvantages: survey, interview, postal, telephone, internet. We have to understand the problem the interviewer may face, which will help us to develop questionnaires and surveys.

The second topic looks at cumulative frequency tables and curves, histograms, the mean, median and mode. We consider quartiles and deviations – standard and quartile. This information has to be considered for both grouped and ungrouped data.
Coefficient of variation – this statistical measure like all the others we will use has a specific purpose. This subject has to give you the ability to develop a result and then be able to interpret this information.

    So we will for all these business statistical measures discuss the purpose and practice with examples.

Correlation and regression-like the coefficient of variation has a purpose. We will develop skill in this area and work with scatter diagrams, dependent variables, calculate the least squares regression line, calculate the correlation coefficient and use Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient.
Index numbers – We will calculate Laspeyres and Paasche index numbers and understand why these results are useful. We will then focus on the business and economic relevance of index numbers and consider the importance of prediction and expectation when it comes to actual outcomes.
Time series – We have to plot a time series, develop knowledge of the moving average, calculate seasonally adjusted values and find likely future values of the trend.
Probability – We need to discuss the classical and the empirical definitions of probability and understand the concept of mutual exclusivity. We need to become experienced in the probability rules and work with Venn and tree diagrams.

    This is a basic introduction to the first of the business statistics courses which will allow you to understand the importance of data within business and the economy at large.
    Candidates must answer 4 questions from a choice of 6 questions within 2 1/2 hours. Each question carries 25 marks.

Business Statistics -- advanced level

    Business Statistics-advanced level is the highest level in this course. In the 3^rd course, you will learn the whole essential knowledge of economic and statistics in a data based working organization, and will help you make business decision in data processing.

    This course will enable you to analyze data trend, understand the meaning of Economic Statistics, design and research.

We mainly introduce 8 topics:
     1、  Normal Distribution;
     2、  Significance test;
     3、  Class 1 and 2 mistake;
     4、  Significance test and confidence interval- large sample;
     5、  Significance test and confidence interval- small sample;
     6、  X2 test method;
     7、  Quality control;
     8、  Use computer in Business Statistics.

    It’s important to realize that: you will review and supplement some knowledge of Business Statistics level 2. We must consider:
    1)       Semi-logarithmic chart;
    2)       Variance;
    3)       Personal measurement of skewness;
    4)       Differences between additive model and incremental model;
    5)       Conditional probability;
    6)       Bayesian quantitative.

    Test time is 3 hours, candidates answer 5 questions from a choice of 8 questions, each question has same scores.
